Migrating Blog

It saddens me to say I am leaving the blogger platform. I have migrated my blog to http://www.gordonstillman.com/blog. I am using Wordpress, which is just more powerful and allows for more layout and content customization.

Dig in to my new blog, explore my current fine art documentary projects, and tell me what you think.

Fine Art Project

I have undertaken a new photography project, the name of which I am still debating. Some names I am pondering include: Overgrown, Taking Over, Natural, Progress and Wild. I do not want to say too much about the project yet, but I am undertaking it to explore how the man-made world and nature interact, the resilience of nature and concrete, neglect and care, and how suburbanization affects this interaction.

I created a little gallery on my archive of some of the images, which I have posted below:

E-Marketing

I have decided to skip over Agency Access and Adbase and use my own list that I developed over the summer. The list contains about 500 contacts of agencies, publishers and other creative organizations that I would like to work for. I am currently deciding which program is best to send out mass emails. These programs do not provide contact lists, just the tools necessary to send and track a large quantity of emails. As such, they are much, much cheaper, although I still have to spend my time ensuring my lists are accurate. Many of the services also provide neat design features that allow you to create html emails and add forms. The list I am choosing from is below. Many of the services also offer free trials, monthly plans and pay-as-you-go plans.

Upcoming Travel Images: Northwest, Cities of the Mississippi River and the Midwest

I am readying images for sale as stock and fine art prints from many locations across the USA. Notable locations include Seattle, Vancouver, Mount Baker, New Orleans, Memphis, St. Louis and Chicago.
The images below are from Washington, home of the largest ferry system in the USA.

Above, the ferry moves through the water around the San Juan Islands.

Above is a view through the ferries windows and out onto the San Juan Islands. The sun had not been out long enough to burn off the morning clouds and mists.

Above is a view from Shaw Island looking out on a ferry passing by at dusk.

Above is a view out of the Yakima ferry from one of the car decks.

Above, a car exits onto Orcas Island from the ferry.
